750 Triumph Triple

This is a charcoal sketching I have,but no date.
Anyone have an idea?

Thanks Motorhead,that site looks very interestng.I'll post an age if I can.

I have two Tridents. A 75 and a 76. If I put two days into the 75 it'd run. The 76 needs a bit more work.

Don't I wish! The Trident will have to wait. I've got an addition to my house to finish first. I'll post a better pic later today.

That's interesting...I worked at a Honda/Triumph dealership in the mid-1970's and we had several trident's in the storage area...still crated. They didn't sell well at all and the owner never assembled them. When I moved out of state, they were still sitting there...crated.

They were never that popular here realy.Although there is a fella lives quite close has a Commando which he stripped all the way down and rebuilt.It was better than the day it came out of the factory with all its faults.(Oh look,an oil slick!)He replaced the entire electrical system because the existing excuse for one was just too tempting for him.But they were doomed because they couldn't compete with the far eastern man and the bikes were generally heavy,non responsive,design was in inches rather than thou,unreliable,expensive,and dangerous in some cases.
So I'm not a fan.
Plus they all got burnt off by "those bloody kawasaki's". :whistle: :woohoo:

The triples were a poor attempt to hold up against the Japanese multis. The 750 Tridents are little more than a Triumph 500 with one more throw on the crank. I've never started mine but I believe that they had some success on the dirt flat tracks.

Rob North framed "lowboy" racer,

they are still regarded as fast vintage race bikes,

one won the 750 class here in Italy last year against bevel ducs and guzzi twins. you just need to spend tons of money to build a reliable motor.

The street bike was extremely unreliable but this specific bike won daytona, actually beating the honda sohc 750....
