AGM Battery options for a 1976 KZ900 was created by Wheelhop
Any recommendations on an AGM battery for a 1976 KZ900?  That model  KZ900 for 76 and 77 had a "unique" style battery box.  The factory recommended battery is a YB10LA2
and they are still available but only in an lead acid type battery with a vent tube.
Johnny Vintage Motorcycle shop in Ohio recommends on their website a YTX12 BS Yuasa "dry" battery that need to be mounted on it's side which I don't like.

I don't think that Yuasa "needs" to be mounted on it's side.  Rather, it can be mounted on it's side, if you want.

I'm a fan of Motobatt.  Motobatt MB10U will fit your bike, according to info found online.

Here's what I bought a few months ago. Do you have a Bulbs+Batteries store near you? That's where I got mine it's a perfect fit.

Been using KMG brand AGM #YTX14AHL-BS on a few of my bikes with no issues. They are a very reasonable price and seem to last about 5-6 years on average.

You can cut/snip the top brace of the battery box to fit the YTX14AHL battery that fit all other year KZ1000's.

Yikes. Not with a one year only battery box.

I agree with Mikaw, I don't want to cut the top out of my one year (ok,maybe 1 & 1/2 years) only battery box!  I do have a spare battery box however

Just ordered a Motobatt MB10U - thanks for the link.  It was around $95 shipped.

MotoBatt battery installed. Fits well, turns out my battery box has been "snipped" on one side in order to fit a larger dimensioned battery.  I will take the box out this winter and get that repaired or take a look at the spare one I have and use that one?

Don't get why people do this, a big "shit" battery is no better than a smaller "quality" item. "Go figure" ( obviously I'm not shy of a mod or two but to individualise or improve )

Well, I dug out my spare 1976 battery box and it has been altered also.  Luckily it should be an easy fix since it is all there and just needs to be welded back together.
