Z1 Front Brake's - Show & Tell was created by z1kzonly
Hi All, Recently I've been selling a small amount of real nice parts on eBay & FB Market.
I had a 75 Z1B front caliper with master cylinder, That sat since the mid 1980's?? I listed for $250 on ebay, and $200 off with private PP sale.
Some people laughed on FB, whatever? I wonder how many of you and others have bought brake item's, calipers & master cylinders to find out it's trash, pitted, no good.
So I de-listed these items!
Glad I did! Now I am going to restore them both with quality parts.
This caliper was so nice and clean! The piston popped right out effortlessly!
Piston is like new, the 2 bolts are clean to go, the 4 seals are original with Tokico on them, the master bore has no pits!
Cleanest old items that I have ever taken apart over the years! And I took a lot of the apart too!
Now I am just deciding on how to finish them? I might try black anodizing? The caliper too?
Has anyone ever anodized a caliper housing?
Or just good old Satin high temp Engine Paint, baked and cured?
Check out these pictures! As just taken apart!

Same here, but I know one or two people that have successfully re-anodized the master cylinder.

That caliper is very nice!  I have a rebuilt spare sitting on my shelf.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

HI Wookie! You Know? I am going to try it! 4 oz. bottle ready to spray, $45 on eBay.
Just need a small  .8 - 1.0 needle for my clear spray gun.
Should have done this years ago! Made a Business out of it! That's all that race Car Jet-Hot Coating stuff is are!
I am going to talk to my Son, New Business for motorcycle and small car parts!
He has become quite the painter!
The place he paints for did a car for the Street Outlaws show. Guy out on Connecicut?
Only place's around me are Gun-Smith shops that actually do it!
OK, hopefully these 4 oz's will do it?
Now? oven cure? air cure? cobra black? artic black? jet black? WTF? black?
Calling them to see what a basic satin black would be called.
Thanks Wookie for getting me thinking again!
And I said I was done with this stuff!
Here are my parts in queue!
The Z1 parts & a 77-80 rear set
Thanks for the tip and idea!

Cerakote “C” series is an air cure that requires no baking of the parts. Cure time is kind of long, you can handle it within a few hours, but full cure is about a week. I’ve had great results from it so far.
