Broken seat pan hooks was created by Michel3007
Hi everyone,

I am about to replace the seat cover on my KZ400 B2 and I have a few of the pointy ends of the seat pan (these triangular hooks that you bend up and on which you pin the cover before bending them back down) that broke because of rust/age. I am thinking of using zip ties to attach the cover where these hooks are broken, as it will be hidden under the foam and cover. Has anyone ever done this or might have a better solution ?

Cheers,

Thanks for sending me down a rabbit hole.  I knew I had seen the product in the past but could not remember where.  After a deep search I found it check out this link
www.pandkclassicbikes.co.uk/original-spike-strip

Not saying you should purchase it but may be you can create one for the missing points on your seat pan.  Pop rivet it to the pan?

Thank you Gd4now, that is exactly what I needed and sorry for the rabbit hole :D
I actually saw videos from this channel when investigating how to change my cover ! I was so close...
I will update once I have installed a spike strip.

I did not word my response as well as I could have.  You most certainly did not send me down a rabbit hole.  I did that all on my own.  As I said I did recall seeing the info on the strips but could not for the life of me remember where.  I was unwilling to let it go and move on without diving down the hole to find it.

I look forward to seeing how it helps you solve the issue with the seat recover.

I used spike strips when I recovered the seat on my KZ.
Can't recall off hand where I bought them, but a search should bring something up.

great work on the seat!

gordone - there's a great write-up in the "articles" section for repairing side covers.
