Historic Vehicle Status was created by Ian R Powell
My Z440 has now Achieved Historic Vehicle Status so I went to my local poast office with my Log book and other Docs and within 10 Mins all was completed. They took the Logbook front section and I signed it and now I Should receive a new one that will state that its now MOT and Road Tax Exempt.
Now lets hope we have some good weather so that we can get out and ride.

Yes!
In the UK, vehicles over 40 years old ( actually nearer 41 years due to the cackhanded way they calculate it ) become eligible for historic status once you send off the V5/title to declare it and are exempt from road tax and MOT inspections.
You still have to tax it each year but there's no fee and you self declare the vehicles roadworthiness at the same time.
This currently saves me £125 a year on each of my qualifying Z1000's which means i may actually be able to afford a few drops of fuel to run them on now it's hit £9 a gallon   .

Michigan has a historic plate  program I take advantage of.
Plates are good for 20 years.
The catch is it is not for primary vehicles you use everyday.
For special events like cruises, bike shows, parades.
So if a police officer asks  you are coming or going to a special event

One thing you need to be wary off, if the vehicle has been significantly modified from original spec then an MOT Inspection is still required

Only if it's been "Substantially" modified and then there's some conveniently placed loopholes and exemptions in the law regarding reasonable availability of period parts and modifications to improve efficiency, safety or environmental performance that when applied to motorcycles virtually lets you do what you like.

You have obviously looked into it deeply, can't beat a bit of rule manipulation

That's very similar to here, but we still have to do the 'Ad-Valorem Tax Receipt' dance every year, but it's dirt cheap.  We had all of our Z1's with individual personalized plates for a long time (HIS-Z1, HER Z1, 73 Z1 etc.), but full yearly taxes and registration fees were significant for bikes we didn't ride each year.
