Hi Everyone.
First off. Are you seeing the pics in my second post. All I'm getting is " You don't have permission to access this page"
I don't have left hand drill bits, but something I will look into!
I'll be going with the fairing or some sort of windshield. I live in a town of 6000 people. So a ride around town takes 10 mins. And I'm kinda done with hanging on at Hwy speeds anymore.
It's not exactly my favorite color ( It's Cadillac pink BTW). But My friend did a pretty good job of painting it. It's sat outside for the past 12 years plus.
I had the full Vetter set up back in the 80's. I thought it looked pretty cool!

Well I guess I'm doing something wrong.
I'll try again. If they work, the first two are from the broken Ignition bolt. Second two are pics of my old Vetter set up.

Well now that I have that fixed.
When I snapped the spark plug off. I thought well the worst that can happen is I'll have to install a helicoil.
But I thought I'd like to save the threads if I could.
After breaking the porcelain loose and sucking it out with the vacuum.
I started drilling out the plug at 1/64th increments, until  was just about into the threads.
I was able to get the remainder to peal out, one thread at a time.
I was a pretty happy camper, when I got all of the plug out. I sucked up the filings in the cylinder with my improvised vacuum.  I dipped the drill bit in grease to catch the fillings, but it didn't catch the all.

Well done!  How do you plan to remove the bits on top of the piston?

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

I took a small flexible magnet and fished it around until nothing was sticking to it. 
I then took a smaller hose and inserted it into the small black hose in the pic. And swished it around the cylinder for a couple of minutes.
I bought a thread chaser to clean up the threads.

I'm trying to get a hold of Nessism ( Ed ). 
I sent him an email on the 12th, regarding an O-ring kit. But haven't heard back. It may have gone to his junk!
I haven't been on here long enough to send him a PM.

Are you in Canada?

That OEM tools product is a Canadian Tire item. I have used there spark plug thread inserts.

Yes I am north of the 49th.
It worked pretty slick cleaning the threads.
Good to keep in mind. Are they as good as Heli coils?
I've never worked with Heli coils either, but I've had friends use them with pretty good results.

Hey, from those pictures you look like your out in the Prairie's. I hail from South Western Ontario.

The inserts I mentioned are more like a Time Sert and not a Helicoil.

I would not use a Helicoil for a spark plug repair, but OK for a something like a M6-M8 thread.
Anything bigger and I would try to make my own insert out of a bolt if I could not get a solid threaded insert (Time Sert)

So far you look like your doing great on your project. Keep up the good work!

I've got the trapezoid style front M/C, and it's cooked. I was given a new M/C when I picked up the bike. But it's a different style.
The person that gave it to P.O. said it will work. I've attached pics of it and the old M/C. The old M/C has 14 stamped on it. I'm assuming it's a 14 mm M/C.
I can't find a size on the new one. It has two prongs for the brake switch. So I know it's not OEM for this model for sure, as the brake switch is down between the forks.
Just wondering if this may be a 14mm or 5/8", or how to tell or measure?!  Or should I just give it a shot and try it at low speeds. If it's to grabby or too vague of a feel, I'll have to get the proper one.  I'm on the Venture riders forum and there's a number of guys that have up graded to R1 brake calipers. Some say they need to switch from the OEM 5/8 M/C to the 14mm M/C because of the vague feel.
