Practically free GPz550
19 Jul 2007 19:52
If you're in the area, you may have seen the "$50 or make me an offer" GPz550...I snagged it. For practically nothing. I can't wait to tear into her. Meet "Angel"...She's rough but seems all there.

A great deal at even twice the price
. Seriously though that is a killer deal. Should be a fun project

She doesn't look as rough as the KZ650D (SR) I bought last weekend, and I paid a bit more than $50 for it! :S
Actually the '83 550 GPz (second year of the mono-shock for the GPz 550's) is an "H2" model.
'81 KZ550-D1 (Gpz)
'82 KZ550-H1 (Gpz)
'83 KZ550-H2 (Gpz)
'84 ZX550-A1/A1L (GPz)
'85 ZX550-A2/A2L (GPz)

That oil cooler can be used on Tess, but the 550's oil pans are diff. You were refering to the oil cooler as a part that may end up being donated to your 650, right?
If you want to run the oil cooler the same as it is on "Angel" (to the "block" on the front of the oil pan), you'll actually need an oil pan from either a 750 Zephyr or any year of the 750 GPz models. They are a direct bolt-on for the 650's.
I'm running 750 GPz oil coolers/oil pans on my '78 KZ650-B2 and my '84 ZN700-A1L. They work pretty nicely, and almost everything looks like it came that way off the assembly line.

nice find...good to know the deals are still out there...just got a kz750b3 for $200 locally but your deal is heaven sent. My 85 zx550 GPz has been my workhorse for the last few years. It can do anything and never whimpers. Enjoy!
