How much would you pay for a tank?
10 Aug 2007 05:55No, not that kind of tank, this kind of tank:
In fact, that tank. How much would you pay for that tank as it is, with the badges?

That tank is not all that great. Looks rusty and definate subpar repaint. I'd say $50-$75.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Well, the lacquer is coming off by the filler cap apparently, otherwise it's in good condition. I just bought it from ebay for £21.49 ($43) including shipping and wanted to make sure I hadn't paid over the odds.
The paintwork was never going to be a concern for me anyway, I was lookiing for something with no dents at a reasonable price and some badges. Over here, original tank badges are going for about £10 so I'm quite pleased.
It's actually going to become a donor - the badges are going onto the tank on my 1982 Z550LTD while the rest is going to by my airbrush tester with a view to selling it on in the future.
Thanks for your input Luke and Ron

Considering your plans for the tank I think you got a good deal. Here in Upstate New York the price on used tanks seem to be around $100 for one with maybe a few dents and probably rusty inside. Most need paint anyway.
I think you did well and good luck with your project.

Rule of thumb.....if you need it..........buy it. It's hard to put exact pricing on old parts. One mans junk is another mans treasure. Just don't buy junk. Ron pointed out the rusty inside.........this is a big concern. Most rusty insides can be fixed......others can't Buyer beware.

I will go with $50 - $75 bids. I think you got a good deal, now you can go back to your haggis.
