Bike fixed!!!
23 Aug 2007 12:41
Well, I just got my bike back from Fairfax Cycles. They seemed to do a good job on it and were reasonably priced. Here's what I had done...
New front tire and tube.
New rear tire and tube.
New chain and sprockets.
Seal gas tank (outsourced to a radiator shop).
New master cylinder.
Cleaned and balanced carbs.
Put on dyno and dialed in carbs.
New spark plugs.
I think that's it. It cost me $800. Granted, the carbs with the dyno was $400 of that (yikes!). I wasn't originally going to have the carbs done, but when I got the bike out of storage they were leaking so I figured they could do it better than me.
More so, the bike is MUCH more responsive then I remember it. So that's pretty sweet. And it pulls all the way through the power band.
Anyways, I'm just excited that I have my bike back in working order. Thanks for everyone's help.

I remember reading a post of yours about how you were worried about when you would get the bike back.
You seem happy now.

Yeah, shortly after that I just stopped worrying. Figured it wasn't doing any good.
But yes, very happy now. It did take a while (about a month) after they received the bike to do that work, but the last week were really my fault.

8 bones isnt bad at all if you have the jack! It is a sweet feeling to have your bike in good working order.
I cant help but keep thinking I should open a bike shop! 8 bones is nice on the receiving end as well.
I'm just afraid a shop would steal all my riding time.

23 Aug 2007 20:55It will steal your soul, as well. Working in the powersports industry is like many things in life.....I'm just afraid a shop would steal all my riding time.
it's actually a LOT better on the outside looking in than than the reverse. Trust me on this.
