How many head gaskets will it take...
05 Sep 2007 20:30
Soooo I finally got a good set of pistons/jugs and my head back form the machine shop.. (and i am back from Korea so i can actually work on the bike!).
Now i killed one new head gasket because i was "sure" i had bent a valve (installed the cams wrong and rotated everything before i caught it...)
luckily there is no visible damage so i am thinking i just over reacted... so i just opened up my new gasket set and tossed on a new head gasket
Today i found out that one of the valves was not properly ground from the machine shop, so with a 2.15 shim in it i still can't even spin the bucket.... well my buddy will regrind the valve for me but i have to pull the head.... so this will kill head gasket #2.
ARG
So after i drop of the head i will stop by and see Jeff at Z1 for the 3rd time in 3 days and buy another gasket kit (as i don't see head gaskets listed separately on his page...)
I hope 3rd time is the charm...

hurm.... walking away for a while would give Jeff time to forget that i was JUST in buying gaskets so i wouldn't feel like such an idiot.
But then again i go back to Korea in 3 months and i want my pile of parts to LOOK like a bike again by then.
