Squids came to town
17 Sep 2007 04:38
Yesterday, a very large group of crotch rockets cruised through town, and some of them were riding on the back wheel. But I noticed that virtually all of the guys riding wheelies had almost flat back tires.
Is there some reason for this? Does a near flat back tire make wheelies easier or something?
Never tried it myself.

I might have been because all the weight of the bike is on one tire and looked flatter than normal. They also might lower the tire pressure to get more traction.

Thanks Don, maybe that's it, plus they might be on radials.
I've never tried to look at my back tire while I'm up.
What was funny was the one guy that didn't notice the cop car sitting just down the road as he went by. He got pulled over.

I believe they lower the tire pressure to slow down the quickness of the wheel on the pavement. It makes the bike more controllable when lofting the front end.
