That's what's left of the center roller and front guide. A little silicon fell down there when I took it apart.
I just took a rainy ride to the store. First time I wore my Harley Davidson leather jacket (made in CHINA in 87) in 4 months. God it feels good
The 16 tooth sprocket has me at 4000 RPM at 70 again. I have some HWY miles to do so I'll keep it this way for a while. Still running 10* hotter than before. She sounds happier too. :woohoo: PITA dropping the pipes and pan but well worth it. This time I used silicon on the collars. Thanks guys for the tip. Juggling them all these years makes me wonder why I didn't think of it. :pinch:
You know what they say, two heads are better than one. Here we have at least 20 on line every day.
This old dog is still learning new tricks.

Here's something to consider having embroidered on the HD jacket....

I'd get shot. Art a HD guy asked me where I get off wearing a HD jacket riding a Kaw? I showed him the made in CHINA tag and he just grunted. He had his fender off and embossed on the fork leg was MADE IN JAPAN. "I get off on that Art." "Some of a bitch, grumble grumble." They can dish it out but they just can't take it.

I just watched a flick called the "Punisher" on Netflix. Looked like a pilot. I liked him more than Arnold or any of those other bums. Good flick.
Is that where your handle comes from? Just asking.

The punishers were the name of my basic training platoon and 11b was my MOS. I started using way back because it seems to be open on almost everything for a username.

Well after the close call this morning I made it to my daughter's place. Took some pics going up the hill. Some A hole in a big Ryder truck waited for me to start the bike and tried to get in front of me. Didn't work. People are just jerks.
They are widening the road.
I'm going to stop by that little store for lunch one day.
A liquor store on the top of the mountain. Hmmmm.
Steve
Sorry, not a Ryder truck. I don't think the owner of the company would diss bikes like this guy did. :woohoo:

Put my new carb holders on. Noticed the difference right off. The carbs aren't popping while on choke and revs faster. Was turning right on Palm when some jerk cut into my lane with another behind him. Must have been doing 80. I saw the other SHT coming,
I had just put it in second gear and grabbed a hand full. They pissed me off so I kept it WOT , passed the first jerk at 11,000 RPM. Still pulling strong and slammed it into third, left both of them behind. I backed off and both of them did too. I don't know who was more surprised, me or them. As I was riding into town, I was thinking about the new valve springs I had put in. She wants to bury the red line but I don't plan on going there unless I need to.
Though the rubber is still soft, the mating surfaces are hard and cracked. I sealed them last year but you can see they were still leaking.

LOL, been there done that. I laugh every time I see a thread in forums when they are discussing "sealing" carb holders. I understand that sometimes you gotta do thing when you are on a budget. I only laugh be cause it turns out the same way every time and the final fix is always the same. "I finally bit the bullet and replaced the carb holders, it's never run so good!" Or something like that. Anyway, glad you got your running right Steve. Nothing more gratifying than grabbing a hand full of throttle and getting a "hold the f*** on" response.

When I grabbed my first handful in 75, it felt like the devil grabbed my shirt and yanked me to 100+. I've been addicted to it ever since. :woohoo:

I keep thinking, how's that for a low compression engine?
