kz1000LTD ish

hi... i have a 1979 kz1000ltd just got.... but the front does nt look right in my opinion...i think i have 1976 kz900 ltd forks fitted.... whats the difference in 1976 900ltd forks and the 1979 1000 ltd forks....i have a small front fender to put on and a ltd seat and a few more bits to get it kind of road worthy ... but just wondering what kind of problems im looking at with the forks....thanks for any advice

edited. my mistake. need to double check, but I think the 900-Ltd & 1000-B Ltd have pretty much the same forks. The 900A is different.

thanks for that.... maybe its the wrong type of fender that makes it look odd.....maybe when i change that and the seat and rear shocks it might start to look LTD ish......just want to get it running and have a bit of fun before i do any serious work on it

You may be right about the fender. It looks kinda long. From the diagrams your Fr fender should be the same as the one on my bike. see link in my signature.

think ur right.... i have 1 just to fit it.....i think the previous owner just fitted what ever he could find at the time.......its a work in progress i ll get there eventually

Maybe the po wanted to minimize the amount of splash when riding in the rain. ???

It appears Your well on your way for a nice ride!! Ive had my A4 900 for over 40 years, and take pride in keeping it road worthy, and up to date with upgrades in handling and performance for the way I ride. After 41 years, Its in no way a stamped factory condition. Im currently upgrading a 78 ltd 1000 and as far as Im concerned LTD is just bolt on discontinued parts but has nice body style lines and performance. Keep a cool tool pard!!! Enjoy!!!

thanks ....its my first old kawasaki......it ll take a bit of time to get it right.... im just trying to get it half rideable first...

A factory full service manual and a few sights like this one plus research will get you well on your way partzilla.com is a + I dont know about ordering stuff but at least they have the factory part numbers to re fer to for after market aplications
