82 650 csr

i just bought 3 days ago a pristine example of a survivor bike.92 650 csr. The inside of the tank is shiny aluminum.or steel,whichever its made of.all the signals work,it was never tipped over and had things replaced.theres no blueing on the headers.the seat looks new.it has the biig padded backrest and luggage rack.the pad can be slid forward for the driver.only 13,000 miles.it was only ridden 10 miles the past year.thus the carbs need cleaning. Al the footpegs and everything loo good.the tires i will replace.i regret having to replace the buckhorn handlebars but they are terrible.even though the bike sounds like its running on 2 cylinders it has great performance.i suspect plugged pilot jets.i am afraid when i take the carbs off the boots will be stiff and the airbox very brittle.i am so proud of the bikes condition.the former owner is ill,and hasnt ridden it for quite some time.

You are right to suspect the carburetors. Most likely the pilot circuits are clogged with dried fuel, but without pictures, it never happened.........

I originally replaced the stock csr handlebars with Flanders med tall street bars. They're kind of an Ltd or cruiser style, but wider than the csr's and give an upright riding position which is great for around town & at lower highway speeds. The Fr brake master cylinder will fit right plus the control cables & brake line won't end up too long. Flanders bars are expensive, but Emgo should have something with similar dimensions.

yours has mags,and tuneless.mine are spokes and tubes

Mine came stock w the same spoked wheels as the 82 650-CSR, but I installed the mag wheels from a KZ550C Ltd. They were a direct swap. all that's needed are the wheels & Fr brake disk. everything else is the same. very easy. New SS spokes were going to be too expensive & I just happened to find a cheap pair of 550 wheels on EB.

ps: digital photos can be deceptive. the frame needs to be painted & the engine needs attention as well. all n all, it ain't too bad, though.
