You have a 1980 kz1000 LTD (B4)

zedder.com/Info/80%20KZ1000-B4%20LTD.htm

Edit: the 5xx,xxx frame number indicates it was built in the US. Lincoln Nebraska I think?

'78 Z1-R in blue , '78 Z1-R in black, '78 Z1-R in pieces
My dad's '74 Z1
'00 ZRX1100

Ok thanks I came to same conclusion, it also seems to indicate it could be a MKII motor . Is there a way to tell if it is from the outside?

Look at your engine, near the oil filler spout. If you have the two braces as shown in the photo it's a Mark 2 engine. You can confirm it by counting the number of teeth on your cam shaft sprockets. They will have 32 teeth. Earlier engines had only 30.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Prior to the 1981 model year, the frame number is the vin. 17-digit vins were mandated beginning in 1981 for the USA.

I am pretty sure the vin and frame number are the same after 1981 as well.

1982 KZ1000 LTD parts donor
1981 KZ1000 LTD awaiting resurrection
2000 ZRX1100 not ridden enough
