Ok all, found a chopped 76 the engine is running cosmetically true to its age ,but clean enough.I would purchase with the intent of offering to one of you restore peeps or be super eccentric and have another KAW chop.I will bring a compression tester when I look at it, if its not a total mess whats it worth? I'm thinking in the 1500-2000$, am I off due to the pandemic prices? any help is appreciated! on a side note I need to purchase my Trike parts list and not another Bike ........but I'm an addict of the MOTO!

The last 2 I have purchased were disassembled but complete and I paid $500 each. One was a 1974 Z1A engine. The other was an early 1976 Kz900

EDIT, Per Zedder the serial number range for the ‘76 & ‘77 Kz900 is Z1E 086001 - 138846..... The ‘76 LTD range is Z1E 086001 - 117973

Is it a true period correct piece of chopper history? Please post a picture even if you don't strike a deal.
Could have some cool parts! Amen Savior Frame, Springer frontend, Invader Mags, Smoothies, bigger bore, Kenny Harmon Cams, ARD or Bill Hahn Ignition?
OH, I was just day dreaming of the same bike I laughed at before I knew what was there about 5 yrs. ago. Eng. was seized they said.
I could have got it for $500. I have learned over the yrs. to never hesitate or think twice when it comes to these or any older motorcycles. JMHO.

Great point. Supply and demand factor in.

No ones getting £2k for a motor in the UK , even for a built one.
You see them advertised for that but they don't sell.
You will get £500 to £800 for a set of very early bare Z1 cases and then only around £1200 tops for a complete one if the numbers are close to the buyers frame but no one wants to pay big in one lump for a complete motor even though you spend much more than that rebuilding one.
It's the mentality of forking out a large sum in one hit that puts a dent in the bank balance against lots of less painful smaller outlays over a longer period that you don't really notice.

Great concept! It has worked well for me the last twenty years, and I'm still married to the same gal. Otherwise, the big layout would have been me in short casket...a long time ago!

Here is a pic ...asking is $2500 called he's had it since 90s and he's 400 lb now and can't ride it he says had his nephew rode it last week after he had front brakes redone because he didn't want folks wrecking as he was selling it and knows people will want to test-drive it. Fast as hell he says... yup , I say. Not anything crazy ass cool, or lore in the chop world past but alright.

Now that is done up cool! It's a KZ - FLH. 3 1/2 gallon Harley fat bobs with center speedo dash. FLH wide glide front end, and banana brake caliper. Same as my 75 FLH. This bike needs to be left alone as is. For a collector with a lot of bikes! Of a show item.

I agree its cool, but no "historic magazine bike" I'm saying and the ugly tribal sticker on the nana yellow says total re paint and I'm more funky than yellow. As for the collector well have a 95 roadking ,74 z trike chop, and a 79 shovelhead chop. so if I add another maybe I'm the collector you speak of teehee hahahahaha.I don't want to rob an OG 76 engine when I can throw a j engine in there and rip up my small-town back roads ! btw I like a more sexy paint like my trike

If i had an early 70's frame and no motor id pay that, only cause i know that the sum of its parts will add up to the same number and thats without the shipping costs of every singe piece. I know this cause i built an ebay motor once and it came in at way more than if i had been able to get my hands on a complete engine. Once again those of us that dont have access to a host of options on parts have no other options to pay what is been asked for what we can get our hands on. Im very close to paying 2000 euro for a 1976 frame and lower half of a 76 z900 engine only because there are just none in Ireland any more.
