The VIN sticker will have "Complies with Australian Standards" and Made in Japan Written on it.
It will have month and year of manufacture and the speedo will be Kmh.

Edit, thinking about it more, It's more than likely the VIN will be an aluminium tag riveted to the headstock as per ADR.
HMR is correct that Aust delivered bikes were z900.

The rear fender will be noticeably longer with a round red reflector. And will have dual front disc.

The answer for the general case is that you cannot tell from the engine or frame serial number. There are however some telltale signs to indicate if it's imported. North American models had KZ900 badges and a speedometer in MPH. The LTD model was only made in North America and the frame serial number began with a 5. European models had a longer rear fender. There are probably other differences that I haven't thought of.

What is your frame serial number?

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

The front headlight will not be a sealed beam. It will have a removable bulb held in with a retainer. Aslo there will be a daytime running light in the headlight carrier and it is replaceable.
