Is there somebody on de forum who can explain the bulb on the backside of the Z1 engine?  Why is it there and what is the need for it?

Is it a pry point to separate the crankcase halves, without marking the real sealing surface?

Don't know what it's originally intended for but it's handy to get a wooden drift on to split the cases.

The KZ650 has a similar protuberance & the 81 manual says to split the crankcase using the 4 pry points.
