What are the reeds?

I have a 1983 kz1100, and noticed some reeds on the top of the engine (that what the parts diagram calls them). they have a tube coming off the top but it looks like the previous owner capped them of. No idea if they are important for a vacuum system or anything. If you know what they are let me know!

Emission control stuff. If they're capped off, and you aren't MOT'd or anything, you'll be fine.

Thanks! No, I dont have any inspections or anything in my state so that is good! the tubing to cap it is kind of getting cracked so I will replace it with some fresh ones and call it good, thanks for your help.

APE make some really nice blanking plates for this which I believe are around $60 a pair
