Wait. You mean the part that is shaped like an ‘H’? Is that not a cylinder cover? This item?

Oh. That pic slipped in somehow. Yes, that is leftover Harley gear. Thanks.

i finally got my hand on what I think is an ignition advancer. Thank you for the tip. How do I decode the info on the advancer?

I suggest using a fine wire brush to clean the rust off, followed by a light coat of oil (WD40?) to help preverve it's beauty.

Hiya

Decode
005 - The last three numbers of the full part number - 21148-005, which was superseded by 21148-010.
It fits 1975 - 1980 Z1, KZ900 and KZ1000.

TEC is the logo of the company that made the part.

T 1 F 4   T= top dead center for cylinders 1 & 4. F = static ignition firing point for 1 & 4.

T 2 F 3 is the same info for cylinders 2 & 3.

Most of this information is in the factory service manual.
1982 KZ1000 LTD parts donor
1981 KZ1000 LTD awaiting resurrection
2000 ZRX1100 not ridden enough
