Motor And Clutch Questions was created by MJinCO
Several questions. First does anyone have the bore to bore spacing on the KZ1000J motor? I need to make a jug holder plate for putting in honing the cylinders in a honing machine, Should I use a top compression plate?Harley specifies using one?. Second, I'd like a second set of cylinders. How late a cylinder set can I use in my case? Lots of police sets out there. Thirdly, off the motor subject, Current motor is 1075 and clutch slipping a bit at times coming out of turns, probably original, should I do any upgrades?
Finally running better, my oil temps with the German full flow bypass are still a bit high. It takes about 6-8 seconds at idle for the oil pressure to come up due to the oil drain back I have. That is acceptable to me.

As I understand it any "J" series cylinders are interchangeable ("J"-"K"-"M"-"P" and KZ/GPZ1100) with the oil cooler I believe your fittings are at the bottom of the cooler - inverting the cooler so the fittings are at the top will reduce "drain back" so pressure would come up sooner
With the clutch you could fit stronger springs, you can also "surface grind" the steel plates (they are stamped so usually have a slight "dish") which increases the surface contact (you may need to add an additional steel plate to maintain the overall "stack height") however in "bike powered" car applications the clutch is always a weak point and any clutch upgrades will put more load on the transmission (upgraded output shaft bearings are available from APE)

Automotive oil with friction modifiers can cause clutch slipping, as can maladjustment of the clutch cable.
