Drilled Clutch Basket

Hey All,
Was on the internet somewhere and saw a clutch basket for a KZ 1000, that the fingers of the basket had 2 holes drilled in each one.

Was curious if anyone has done this or knows of it and was it done for making the basket lighter or getting oil to the inner fibers or maybe both

It's just done for lightness and to reduce reciprocating mass .
