I finally got everything connected up to do the carb sync. This is the first time I am trying this so please excuse me if it is obvious to some of you. These are the readings on the guages. They are not all the same so not sure which one I should base the setting on before setting them all the same.

One will be the "base" carb (normally controlled by the idle adjuster) the other three will then need to be adjusted to match the reading of the base carb (you will probably need to make regular adjustments to the idle during this process)

Since there are only three adjusters, you really have no choice in the matter. I think most service manuals suggest the following order........
Using the adjuster between carbs number one and two, slowly turn the screw until those two carbs are showing the same vacuum reading.
Then using the adjuster between carbs three and four, get the readings on those two carbs to match. They do not need to match the first two yet.
Finally, use the middle adjuster to match the readings between two pairs of carbs.
Gently blip the throttle just a little to make sure everything is settled.
Readjust the idle speed if necessary.
It takes only a minute or so. I have heard of guys doing it with no auxiliary fuel tank, just the fuel in the float bowls.

Deon has a 650 with vm 24's where the slide adjusters are internal not external. All 4 carbs have a slide adjuster under the top cap to each carb body
I normally use carb 3 as the base carb after setting the idle adjuster so that after setting the vacuum the slides can be both lowered in unison by turning out the idle adjuster or raised in unison by turning in the adjuster.
Allowing for both increase and decrease to idle rpm.
