Riding with turn signal on

Has any one had success converting their turn signal switch to momentary contact? On my XT225 I was able to put small foam blocks on each side of the switch slider, making the switch turn off when released. I tried the same thing on my 82 KZ305, but the switch is to stiff and that trick didn't work. I find myself riding with turn signal on too often.
or
Is there a way to make them self canceling?

Thanks for the compliment. Didn't think that at 57 I'd still be a Whipper Snapper.

I've taken out the detent on mine.
I've also has a Smart Turn System unit- safer-turn.com/ . When the unit works it works really well. It'll when sense when you lean the bike over for a turn and shut off a couple seconds afterward and when you are still it remains on. The problem I had with mine was it would shut down...then i would have no turn signals. I may have gotten a dodgy unit but now I just use my m-unit to do the cancellation.
If you do buy the STS(2 year warranty), get it from A&J cycles or a dealer that is local as shipping the unit back to Slovenia gets expensive. Unless, you are in Europe already.

Anyway, I was also going to install a waterproof piezo speaker so i could actually hear the turn signal was on..but I got one that was wayyyy too loud.

So that speaker sits in the toolbox now with the STS.

You should be able to open up you switch and remove the detent. Send us a picture of the inside of the switch and we'll try to figure it out.
