82 kz1100 new tach/L. E. D help need it
25 Sep 2020 08:33 - 25 Sep 2020 08:35
Hello everyone
I need help to trying to figure out why the L. E. D lights won't work
Leds lights are the following:
1 - Yellow = Left turn signal
2 - Red. = Oil Pressure warning
3 - Green = Neutral indicator
4 - Blue. = High been indicator
5 - Yellow = Right turn signal
From the wiring diagram I'm using the stock 6pins connector
YELLOW 6 pin connector
1- Light Green
2- Blue/Red
3- Green
4- Black/Yellow
5- Red/Blue
6- Brown
BLACK 6 pin connector
1- Gray
2- Red/Black
3- Red/Blue
4- Black/Yellow
5- Black
6- Brown
The issue is neither my neutral indicator and oil pressure seem to be working. The high been indicator seem to be on for some reason
Here is how I connect the new tack and leds
YELLOW 6 pin connector
1- Light Green ---> Neutral light = positive cable from Green LED
2- Blue/Red ---> Oil pressure = positive cable from Red LED
3- GREEN ---> Left turn signal = positive cable from Yellow left LED
4- Black/Yellow ---> Ground = negative cable from RT signal, LF signal and Blue LED
5- Red/Blue ---> Speedometer light = No Use
6- Brown ---> 12v ignition = negative cable from Green and Red LED
BLACK 6 pin connector
1- Gray ---> Right turn signal = positive cable from Yellow Right LED
2- Red/Black ---> High been = positive cable from Blue LED
3- Red/Blue ---> Dash lights = White cable from New Tach
4- Black/Yellow ---> Ground = Black ground from New Tach
5- Black ---> Ignition Coil = Yellow New tach
6- Brown ---> 12v ignition = Red New Tach
Any ideas what did I do wrong here? When I plug the OEM tach/speedo everything works

Can you post the instructions and diagrams for the new LED unit?
Most likely it takes signals that are opposite of what you are giving it.
Neutral, and oil pressure on the KZ switches the negative side of the light. If the LED unit is expecting power on the those wires, the KZ will not provide it. You can test that by applying power to the wires in question and see if the LED light goes on. But that is potentially dangerous if that is not how the unit works, so a reference diagram or instructions would be a better way to determine what to do.

No instructions or diagram for the Leds. There are just 5 Leds each one have 2 cables.
I was thing the the signal could be backwards but I wasn't sure I will test that

Just like Lou mentioned. The colored wires for the neutral and the oil---those are grounds. So you need to find a constant +12v for the other led wire.
It looks like the brown wire is your +12v for those led's.
The brown wire goes to led positive and the green for the led negative for the neutral light.
The brown wire goes to led positive and the red/blue for the led negative for the oil light.
The leds need the correct polarity.
