82 kz550c3 harness
27 Mar 2021 10:08
I'm having a hell of a time with getting this thing up and going with new guages, handlebar switches and the like and keep running into cut wires, and things being bypassed by the original owner. I'm 1/2 step away from just junking the entire harness and starting completely from scratch. Mainly so I know what has been n done and why.
I'm looking for advice as to weather this is a good or horrible idea.

I would guess it is dependent upon what kind of shape the harness is in. I do not think there is anything wrong with starting from scratch as long as you are comfortable with doing so and have the tools and equipment (wire, connectors) to do so.

I agree with gd4now. It depends. Wiring is time-consuming.
The thing is you are in Boston and it's warming up.
This is the time to start riding. You don't want to be working on your bike into the summer.
If this were winter, I would say go ahead and change out the harness.
What works on the bike right now?

Right now nothing works, when it did it was hotwired and rigged to "work" I'm trying to install switches to get everything up and running but a lot has been messed with and I'm completely lost

Just fix one thing at a time.
What is not working on the bike? Is the bike completely dead?
