Battery ground wire

I'm going to replace the old earth lead from battery to engine bolt as mine seems a bit old and crunchy.

The oem cable is not available anymore. I'm wondering if its OK to use one meant for a car - however they all seem a bit thicker than my original.

Just thought I'd ask the question before I tried to hunt down one that's nearer the oem thickness. Bike is a Gpz11 uni.

We're a bit limited for bike spares here in western australia, hence why I'm looking at autopart stores.

electricity will not know the difference,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, as long as is same diameter or bigger. 

Make sure it is a stranded wire not solid, just bigger than OEM and WELL crimped both ends, clean up the crankcase around the bolt hole and run a tap down the treads to get the best connection you can. My Z500 cable has a small negative wire off it as well but an additional neg wire is easy to loop into the loom. While your at it you can run extra negs from various arts of the frame to the engine neg connection.

Additional bit of advice. Compare the actual stranded cooper sizes. Just because the OD is bigger doesn’t mean it’s a larger gauge cooper. For example. Modern jumper cables. Big thick wires must mean they are good, NOT,  tiny cooper wire with thick insulation. Just make sure you are getting a heavy gauge wire as a replacement.
