No power to taillight
28 Jan 2022 05:37
Hey everyone thanks for helping figure out what the wires were for the rear tail light. I'm not using directionals just to stop and brake light. I have a brand new light but still have no power to it. The only thing I'm running up front is a single headlight and high beam low beam seems to work since I hooked it up. But I still have no power to the rear. Is there something in conjunction with the wires for the front headlight / blinkers that are missing that is not powering the rear brake light? I'm trying to run simple wiring on this scrambler. Thanks everybody. Just trying to get it out and ride it while it's nice out

This thread may be of help. Some of the early schematics are missing, but when you get a few pages in, they will start to appear.

If the brake light switch has an issue does that mean the tail light won't come on either? I figured the tail light can still come on the brake light just doesn't work when you're depressed the lever. But nothing works at all

Basic understanding of electricity?? Multi meter and ability to use it??
It (the electricity) begins at the battery or fuse........
It goesup to the brake switches..... both of them, right? Front & rear?
The switch (either one of them) close and themagic electricity travels to the brake lamp pin in the tail light socket!

The brake switch only controls the bright filament of the bulb. The tail/running/parking lights gets power through the ignition switch. If you do not have a headlight then you have more issues. Fuse, ignition, grounds, bad connectors,

I do have a headlight. I think I have it hooked up correctly but the tail light just doesn't work and it is brand new. Maybe something is wrong from the headlight back? If I put the tail light on the positive and negative of the battery it turns on so I know that's good. Just having an issue getting power back to it. I'm not using the front blinkers or the rear blinkers at all and they are disconnected as well as gauges etc are all off. I guess I'll have to use multimeter and find out why I'm not getting power back to the tail light. But when I turn the front headlight on Powers on easily and it goes from high to low beam with the switch.
