J2 ignition lock source?
05 Apr 2022 05:37 - 05 Apr 2022 05:50
As title guys, it's not available for J1 & 2 any longer from khi. J3 repop is available from zpower but is totally different in both wire colours, mount and barrel length as the clock set for a j3 is different to a J1 & 2.
J1 & 2 is a 6 wire block with a seventh female spur.Anyone resolved this issue, if so how? or source of a repop or have a sh unit available for beer tokens?
Z1 Enterprises list the below as fitting J1, 2 & 3 but I know that must be incorrect as J3 is definately different at that list has J3 wire colour order.

Just to be sure, is your ignition switch part #27005-5019 with the slender key cylinder? I've seen this problem before w the narrow neck: one fix was to get a similar ignition switch from a later model, such as a Vulcan 750, but I don't recall exactly. need to do some checking.

Not exactly sure tbh Martin. I bought the bike in boxes and it was all present except........ the ignition barrel. As far as I have been able to workout it needs the one on the left below.

The one on the left is #27005-5019, as mentioned above.
Here's a topic about the narrow cylinder. There's another topic I recall but haven't found it yet.

I think your right Martin. Looking at the underside of the top yolk there is a half circle recess to match the lock. Plus the two bolt holes.
The J2 lock required is a 6 wire block plus a separate single bullit spur.
Wire colour layout is
Orange/green - brown - orange
White/black - red - white
Seperate spur is red/yellow.
It's unlikely another model switch would be an exact fit/wire layout so will have to get busy with a multimeter once I find one which will physically fit with the correct amount of wires.

Hmmmm, seems to be 7 wire quantity is the stumbling block.
They all seem to be 5 wire or 6 at most.

I think I have tracked down the original thread you mentioned below Martin. Looks to be the solution I was after, thanks.
Just got to find one at a good price this side of the pond now.

Thanks. Yes, that's it. I thought it was on the other forum & never looked here on KZR. doh. There may be an Emgo available.
Edit: you might be able to find a good used VN750 part. 27005-5052 was used until at least 2006.
