Battery cable size

Aloha guys.

As the title reads, does anyone know what is the battery cable size, both positive and negative? I did a search using battery cable but could not find what I was looking for.

Planning to make my own battery cable as I did a R&R on harness and changing the fuse box, so there's some changes I need to make but most of all, my cable is just too damn hard to make any bent to it.

BTW, it's for 82 KZ/GPz 750.

Easiest option is go buy some cheapo jump leads. Chop off what you need. Jump leads are colour coded red / black. Reconnect the Croc clip and get free + - battery leads and a set of jump leads for the toolbox. 

If you don't get an answer, measure the core of your old cables where the battery lugs are crimped on. 
6 AWG = 4.1mm diameter.  4 AWG = 5.2mm.  Consult a wire gauge chart for other diameter measurements. 

ps: a marine supply or welding shop might have thick wire.

 

Thanks guys. I'll settle with what martin has suggested. I can always go bigger, just want to stay away from getting smaller (Hmmmmmmmmm. Heard this before somewhere..............).

Was kinda looking for easy way out (getting lazy. Also called getting old).

I'd probably run 6awg. My bike's starter pulls 80amps.
To handle that without much of a voltage drop, I went with that size.
The battery cable at West Marine should be a lot more flexible than what you have.
You can also buy it by the foot.

If you use the calculator in my fault finding guide (FAQ section) you can feed in the current draw (work on 100amp) and the cable length. You can then enter different cable sizes until you get to a volt drop of less than 0.5v
