the H4 should be fine.
bucket can be off

Is that a 3 pin connector in the headlight bucket?  Blue, yellow & Red wires?

you should see 12.0v on both sides of that 3 wire connector

Y'all are going to shoot me...should have found the 3 pin male to connect with the one I asked about earlier.  I don't even know why I'd disconnect that one...it was completely unneccesary.  I'm going to go bang my head against something substantially more dense.  I am sorry for wasting your time but I appreciate both of you lending a helping hand.It's guys like you that make these sites worth it's weight in gold.

Problem fixed & you figured it out. nothing to get mad about. hee.
My motorcycle wouldn't start one time. I had stuffed a bandana in the airbox. took a few minutes to figure that one out. ha ha.
