Ok Wookie58.. I’m finally back at it. Hopefully you can make sense of the wires. Picture’s of the left and right harnesses and the wires coming out of the main loom. I disconnected all so I could get a better picture of the colors (except the two blues which I hope connect together... they did on all my others). I’m seeing a slightly different setup than the one you did for the other bike.. the right  control has a solid red and brown connected to one male and also a red and white/stripe and yellow connected to a single male connector.Let me know if I can clarify colors… dots.. stripe’s for you. Thank you,Joe

Hard to tell by the pictures but there is two brown wires with white dots coming out of the loom... there is also a solid brown one also. There is also a longer black and white and brown coming out of the loom with flared female connectors for the horn which is hooked up and not shown .

Might as well show these. Power wires from loom.. clutch switch wires and headlight bucket. And additional red wire I added from the dyna coils.

Rivman15 can you open up the handlebar switches, fold them fully open and take pictures so I can see which wires are going where. I will then be able to tell you what goes where. Keep your chin up we will sort it

Wookie58... Fantastic!... I am at work today till 5 ish. So i may not get a look at till tomorrow am. Ill try to get a better picture of that right hand internal (I may have to take off the throttle cables to do so)  Are you saying that those two solid blues coming out of each switch do not connect to each other? I really do appreciate all the help.

The blue into the left switch should be the headlight feed from one of the 10am fuses.
normally there is a blue/white and a brown/white from the right switch which feed the 10am fuses. At the moment with the blues connected together you are by-passing the fuse

Snuck out of work a little early to test the connections by wookie58. Now I always had signals. Now I have an alive motor!... I do not have however have a headlight or horn. Tomorrow I will explore a little more. I also want to take some of the powdercoating off the frame at the horn mount and some of the paint off the underside of the left side handlebar control. Thinking maybe not grounding? (but the signals work so maybe that probably is not going to help).  I already did the right side because of the throttle. Very close and cannot thank wookie58 enough.

Before you grind on finish, you can use a section of wire and ground your items not working.

I don't think the horn uses the frame for ground.  It has two wires.  One is black.  The other is brown.  One comes from the left handlebar control and the other should come out of the main harness.  These wires don't use a bullet style connector.  It's the slide type.

I'm not sure about using the bars for ground for the right control, but it that's true then the wiring diagram should show it.  I don't have a '78 wiring diagram but the 1980 LTD doesn't use the bars for ground.

Since you have an LTD bike you should have signals on the bars.  They should have two filaments in each light, with one always on while running.  On the 1980 version, solid blue wire is used for all running lights, including gauge running lights.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.
