1976 KZ400S Turn Signals Stay On but Dim

I'm trying to resurrect a '76 KZ400 S and the turn signals are acting weird. The two front ones will come on and stay on regardless of direction, while the rear ones stay out. I cleaned the connections to the relay and the turn signal connections and tried again, and did get them all to 'work', but they're slow-blinking. THEN, the signals will work, but the filament on the 'off' one will stay lit/glow while the activated one will blink, especially up front. Turn the switch to 'Right', for instance, and the right turn signal will work while the left turn signal filament will glow, and vice-versa.  Ideas??

Check your ground wire to the lights.
Or run a wire from the negative terminal to one of the ground wires for the lights.

Well, along those lines, does anybody know what I can use in place of the OEM turn signal relays?  It has "Stanley Tung-Sol 223-12v 266-T DOT" written on it; I'd like to find another more modern source for these.

Try your local auto parts store, take the old one with you to matchup - they probably have a current equivalent. You might have to find an employee that's willing to research a little bit.

I figured it out - I noticed a huge open short on the right rear wiring, and also traced it back to the 6-pin connector off the taillight. One of the pins wasn't fully engaged. I stuck that back in, fixed the short and now everything works as it should. Yay!
