Kawasaki Z1/Z2 Left Hand Switchblock
17 Jul 2024 11:14
Gotta reach-out for You European/Domestic market Fellas for this one. I was "told" that the OEM Left hand handlebar switch had a spring detent in the Pa position for the Euro/Japanese market. I've done my share of these but have never ran across a version that when the knob is pushed all the way-up engages the passing feature. Obviously has to be a different "stop" bracket of which is not shown but the US versions all had the same. Triples and Z1 share the same upper LH switch locking upper casting. Any input or experience with this? Thanks a bunch, Clay

Im working on a 75 Z1 with a broken tab for the high/low beam. If you happen to have the internal switch I may one interested in one. I need to pull my switch bodies down as I may have one hiding in there.

Yes CraZ1, i have plenty of them. Your switch should be black in color. Is your knob still decent?

Never mind, found the answer. Some have a spring plate. This is off a Z2 750, so Japanese market, reason i've never seen one.

Are the arrangement of the contacts different to enable momentary at the 'Pa' position? We've never seen one either.

Jim, also sent to Your phone. But for the masses, some relevant crap. Pictures denote the Kawasaki Triples, typical Z1 then the Euro version plate wiring. ALL the plates are the same, just the soldering of wires that makes the difference for the headlight. Note the US version never utilized the spare two collets on the breadboard, the UK did, An additional "Brown" sheathed wire was attached and the RED/Black wire was bridged for the contacts. Note alo the triples also used the exact same plate but switched the Red/Black and Red/Yellow tracer wires around. Also the triples used a smaller wire and used a Yellow connector or red on the RH switchblock.

Here's some stuff for You cra-Z1. I believe this will be what you're looking for and some additional. Wookie, keep you're mind out of the gutter I'm still calling it a Knob. My Knob is new and unfettered. They are all shiny clean and ribbed for pleasure of quick activation. Also if anyone hasn't figured this out. A Switch from a Triple can refresh your restoration of these RH switchblocks for the Z1, 72-75. Just have to re-use the 2 contact back plate, triple only had one and the back section doesn't fit anyway.
