Normally Open Kill Switch Wiring

How could I wire a normally open momentary press button to be used as a kill switch. I plan on using the type commonly seen on most dirt bikes. I will be making my first wiring harness from scratch to use and will wire the bike's ignition as follows: Battery -> Ignition key switch -> Coils. I originally was going to wire the kill switch inline after the ignition key switch but realized that I probably wouldn't like having to hold down the button to allow voltage to the coils... I know the ignition key switch will stop the 12V from going to the coils in the open position so I wouldn't necessarily need a secondary kill switch. However, I have it and I'd like to use it to give it more of the "dirt bike" feel as that's what I'm rooted in. The bike is an 82 KZ550.

Thanks in advance!

Not sure I totally understand what you are asking, but I would think placing it before the key switch would work.  Power would pass to the keyed switch when the kill button is open. Then when closed it will all pass to ground.

I would suggest exercising "extreme" caution when switching things to ground. There are a couple of ways you could achieve what you want but it depends how you want it to work
Press the button and release to kill the motor - this would involve a more complex "latching relay" arrangement (as the circuit needs to stay active until the motor stops turning)
Press and hold the button until the motor stops  - this could be achieved by "grounding" the switched side of the coils (through a resistor if electronic ignition) however as the bike has a multiple coil arrangement you would need to use diodes so the ignition works as intended.
