Naiveté in grownups is often charming, but when coupled with vanity, it is indistinguishable from stupidity.
Tis better to remain silent and thought a fool - than to speak up and remove all doubt.
Did ever think that maybe you've been doing it wrong all these years?

I searched Google for the rebuild kit without success. Appears B-M is long gone. A very remote possibility might be an NOS rebuild kit from an old dealership, or maybe a search via eBay's wanted section. Although the stock 76LTD B-M shocks look impressive, they were considered poor performers even when new and accused of quickly wearing out after only a few thousand miles.
IMO, money would be better spent toward upgraded shocks.

FYI Boge-Mullholland shocks on eBay with 2 hours left.
Not mine -- just noticed and thought someone here might still be looking.

I rattle canned my rear shocks (along with fenders, bars, forks, etc) 20 years ago, first red then blue. But now am returning bike back to vintage chrome. Lotta work and lotta ebay stuff but worth it...
