Z1 Rear Brake Pedal Spring

Ok guys, on my 75 Z1, I took the rear brake pedal off and the spring broke. However I am not sure how to replace the spring without buying a new pedal, cutting the pedal apart and putting it on, or wrapping a new one around it. Has anyone else ran into this? And the funny thing is that Kawasaki has a total different brake pedal shown in their parts diagram. :blink:

I'll have to try and look at my 74' Z1 tonight to be sure.
But can't you just slide it off the short part of the pedal?? It's been awhile so I'm not trying to be a smart a$$..

I don't know the specifics of your bike but it seems like Pat is right, the spring should come right off the short end. Somebody here might have an extra, or post a Want in the classifieds. Or keep your eye on eBay for somebody parting out a bike...
Getting the pedal and spring back onto the frame is a bit of a struggle as I remember. :pinch: It is tough to get the spring "loaded" and the pedal in position at the same time, but it can be done...

If the spring won't slip over, around and off the rod end (as patmann suggested), might try same method used in feeding keys off and onto a split ring, by wedging the rod end (as the "key") into the spring (as the "split ring") and then twisting the spring around with the rod end spreading the spring as it goes along until the rod end works its way to and out the other end of the spring. Just a thought Never tried it
