Will an 81 or 82 seat fit on a 78 1000?

I see some seats around, and some seat covers for 1981+ KZ-1000's LTD's etc. Anyone know what will or wont fit on my 1978 A2?

I found info in the forums up to 1980 but undure if 81, 82 will fit? They look very similar in pictures but maybe a little longer? Has anyone made one fit? I'm getting really desperate to find a seat that isnt totally ruined.

It would take a lot of fabricating to make a 1981 era seat fit your 78. In 1981 they didn't even use a hinged seat, they were some kind of latch/release and the entire seat would pull back and off the bike istead of the hinge system.

DOH, there's one ebay for $50 BIN. I keep trying to get a seat that I KNOW will fit and they keep going for more than a new seat would cost. I just can't afford to spend that... Guess I'm stuck with this hideous ripped thing for the summer. Thanks for the info!

73-78 should be same pan,79-80ltd should also be same;)
