z750 frame with a z1000 engine? was created by Jocke
Can someone tell me what 1000 engine (year and type)will fit a kz750j -82 frame? Will a kz1000j or gpz1100 engine fit right off or do I have to modify the frame?

Pretty sure you're going to have to mod the frame as the 750 engine is phsyically smaller than a 1000/1100 engine. I'm sure it can be done just not sure exactly what it takes.

I have never heard of a KZ750J, but I have seen pics of a 1000 motor in a 650 frame, and of a GPz1100 motor in a GPz750 (ZX750A) frame.
You should be able to fit a J motor in a KZ750E,H, Or L, frame by making new motor mounts. It is a tight fit though.
The 1982 750 Kawasaki's were KZ750E (Standard 4 cyl), KZ750H (LTD 4 cyl), KZ750R (GPz 4 cyl), KZ750N (4 cyl Spectre) and KZ750M (2 cyl CSR), those were the only 750 models sold in the US according to Kawasaki.
If you have a 750 that was sold somewhere else, then I don't have a clue what it is.

Here are a couple of links to the 750 build Steell is referring to (I think), Messenger1´s 1105 project:
