The good news is that the GPz injection system was years ahead of it's time. If you want to get really trick you can even fit a Dynojet Powercommander to get fully mappable fuelling just like a modern bike. Knowledge is power

I thought that was what I said but I just thought that the injection has longh been replaced with smoothbores. You mentioned that it is the worst during higher end acceleration. This is idicative of a lean condition.

Also, can anyone recommend an adjustable fuel regulator that doesn't cost $150+? And while a Dynojet Powercommander would be nice, they don't make one for this bike and I'd rather spend the $300+ on the Dyna 2000.

You might want to check into MegaSquirt, that's what I have (although the bikes not running yet), and it costs around $150 shipped for the kit.
www.diyautotune.com/ sells kits as well as assembled ones.
The MegaSquirt forum is www.msefi.com/index.php

Seem to recall the Yamaha XR1100's (late 70's) introducing a vacuum advance for ignition timing, which was supposedly an improvement over the KZ's mechanical advancer, by allowing carb venturi vacuum into the ignition timing equation. (But this might be a mirage )
Edit -- the Yamaha may have been an XS1100 or an XJ1100 instead of an XR1100.
