Rear brake issue was created by alberto.f.a
Riding today I noticed that my rear brake would make a kind of grinding noise and the pedal would slightly "give way" when coming to a stop for about the last 5-6 feet.
My rear brake has always been a bit louder since I've had the bike (It sounds like the rotor and the pads make slight contact)
I've never worked on brakes before, I would just like some idea on where to start or any opinions.

Rear disc? I would pull the caliper and take a look at the pads, time for new ones? Sometimes differant pads will make noise even in great condition. If pads look good I would try differant pads. Check rotor on both sides and make sure everything looks ok there.

I think the bike has drum on it, sounds like the bushing in the pedal may be bad, and the shoes may need replacing

Sounds to me that your pads are wore. I would tear it down ASAP as those rear pads can fall apart when they get old and worn. You DO NOT want to be riding when they do. You will lock up....:pinch:

Alright guys, thanks for the input, I peeked the pads and it looks like they are going to need replacing. I'm gonna take the caliper off and see if i can track some pads down localy. what type of pads should i be looking for?
Oh, it's a disc brake, sorry i forgot to mention that.

Here's an example of brake pads offered by Z1E.

Should carefully study the fitment notes to assure getting correct pads for applicable year and model of bike.
