I don't know of any mods that can be made to the triple trees, but I've often wondered the same thing. It seems that there should be a way to modify the trees to change the rake. I'll be watching to see if anyone knows of a way.

I have seen triple trees made out of billet to create a rake. The cost would be very high though. PMC (one of our suppliers) sells a Z1 billet triple-tree - the cost is around $900 (they are not raked, but it'll give you an idea on cost...)

Have you looked at a 80's 750 shaft front forks. They are about 5"-6" longer. You would have to use that wheel unless you can find wheel bearings to go to the smaller axle. They don't make one to go from the small axle to the large axle I have not checked the other way



The 80's forks mount the tire in front of the fork instead of under it so you get a couple of inches extra clearance
It might be something to check

Raked triple clamps will decrease your trail. You will get the "look", but the handling could get squirrely as your speed increases.

The kit mentioned here is from Seeger, and I don't recommend it. It costs $1500, and messes up your trail. On straightways, they're okay, but you're going to make the occasional turn--and that's where trail comes into play.

Don't get them. Cut the frame and modify the rake. I'd add a few inches to the forks, too, then a few more to the downtubes to level off the bike and give it the look I like so much, but, hey, that's me. I chop motorcycles,even KZs.

The proper way to install a side-winder header and get clearance is to get the frame raked. This will give you the clearance needed, a lower front stance (so you will have to lower the rear with struts, I suggest as to not "bottom out"),and will make the bike "hook" off the line alot better. You won't be sorry. Any other alternative is "skimping" & "cutting corners". You get what you pay for. You want to play, you gotta pay. Get a well known speed shop to do the rake - it can be a nightmare if a shop doesn't do it right!! Just putting in my 2 cents.:blink:

if you could get a set of raked triple trees,the bottem tree would have to be huge to handle the stress on it ,and be a handfull to corner with.Murray (?) used to make a header called the x-pipe that would let your bike sit very low without raking the frontend.does anybody ese remember these pipes,am i spelling murray right?

Yep, it was Murray. www.murrayexhaust.com . Not much to look at on that site. Has been 'under construction' since I found it two months ago... I don't think that they make them anymore, there's a few threads in the archives that mention these pipes.
