ok, my blinkers dont self cancel anymore. I did the test according to the factory service manual and have determined that the switch assembly is bad. Is there a way to repair the guts of the assembly or do i need to purchase the entire assembly

If it's the switch unit on the handle bars, sure take it off, open it up and check for broken/loose wires, clean the contacts, remove bug nests, etc. At the worst ya find ya can't fix it and your out a bit of time.
...or you can change the blinker fluid
