Rear brake pedal stud?? bolt??

Now for the description...
This is the part that the pedal itself slides onto.
Somehow ( don't ask ) mine snapped of the head with the threaded part with the washer and acorn nut that keeps the pedal in place. The pedal stays on, but it wants to slide "off" . Not really off, just to the outside of the of the bolt, stud, whatever it is.
I'm soo po'ed I haven't even looked to close yet. I've looked at my exploded views of the frame and such on the microfish cd, but can't tell.
Anyone?? AND how should I fix it?? :dry:
It's on my 1974 Z1 900 of course.. not one of the project bikes that I'll never get abound to fixing.

To fix it could you just grind the offensice threads down and drill and tap the main stud and use a bolt and washer to hold the pedal to the stud?

Well here's a pic of that section,but I can't tell from it,how that pedal IS attached to the frame.
It doesn't show a bolt in the diagram.:blink:
So it's not just me that can't tell?? I was thinking it was these 50 year old eyes. But if you young whipper snappers can't tell either..it must be Mother Kawasaki's drawing :blink:
Maybe tonight I look closer. Last night was NOT a good one.
To top it off I blew my halogen high beam on the Zed too. AND one of my front turn signal lenses was hit by a rock and cracked into 50 million pieces.
But on the plus side, I'm single with out children this week. The wife and kids are off camping for a week.
I miss the kids already, the wife...well maybe by Friday;)

or buy some tarozzi rearsets :silly:
Unfortunately, the Tarozzi's still require the use of that stud as part of their linkage setup.

I am new to this community and just purchased a 1979 KZ1000 LTD I want to restore. I know this is an old thread but I was wondering if finally you were able to free up that brake pedal ?
Same situation for me. Seems DOT 4 fluid dripped on the brake pedal joint and it is stuck real good. The dome nut was stripped so I cut it off. I am down to the pedal, tried to lube it, heat it. I am able to move it up and down using a hammer but it is not moving horizontally at all.
I will try with a propane torch tomorrow.
Any tips would be appreciated.

Yes.
We call the 1/2 & 1/2 mix of ATF and acetone "Magical Mystery Fluid", or MMF for short.
We only stir up about 2oz. at a time. The acetone evaporates out of the MMF quickly, even when capped. If allowed to sit, it also begins to separate, with the ATF settling to the bottom. Just shake to mix it again.
Give it a few days to work. Renew the application often during those days.

I could barely move the pedal with a large hammer last night. I had bought the Acetone and ATF so I mixed it and applied large doses over 20 minutes, moving the pedal with the hammer and adding some more. I let her sleep like that.
This morning I was able the move the pedal up and down by hand only but it was still stiff. I mixed another batch and applied more.
Went back down to my garage at 3 and the lever was moving a lot better. Wiggle it out without even having to heat it or use a hammer. She was loose like my girlfriend before menopause. Which is why I will also be calling your mixture KZ KY.
Its now re-assembled and works like new.
You guys are awesome ! This really made my day. I was thinking about cutting the whole thing off yesterday.
