Pulling the swing arm Questions.

When I pull off the swing arm. What should I do.

Replace all the Bushings or Just Grease them after inspecting for wear?

Should I drill a Hole in the tube for a Zirc fitting so I can grease it periodically? I dont see one on it currently.

I am going to Just sand down all the current paint and then Prime it again then Shoot some Black back on it, I am going to paint the Whole bike black and the only chrome will be on the forks and possibly shifters and Levers. Anything else that is shiny will be blasted and Blacked out if possible.

if it has the double needle bearings and they are still good id just put a grease zerk in it and ride like the wind! hows your back situation coming along?goodluck,happy wrenching!

I want my bike back on the road asap, so I have been tinkering a little bit here and there when I can manage to get out there.

I happen to be doing this right now, too.

I have to believe that if there's no grease thingy, there cannot be needle bearings. Can anyone say "grind"? My bearings were worn, rusty, and partially frozen (the outside two, anyway) even *with* a grease thingy. and they were not easy to get out....

I hope you have bushings, and I hope thye are not worn. If I were you, I'd replace them anyway. I mean, how often will you have the swingarm off for paint/maintenance?

i would just go ahead and replace them while i had the swingarm off. i picked up some from my local wheel and bearing shop for nine dollars. i had a fitting put in my stock swingarm a couple of years back so i could gears them twice a year.
