It sounds like a good upgrade to be able to use the wider tires,...but? is it worth the hassle and expense?

gpz1000r 86 forks 40mm on my kz1000r before removing them for the busa front end, i honed out the original tree's to 40mm to take forks.
That is a nice looking bike...Russ

Bdog,
Early ninties ZR6E looks like a good way to go.
The 40MM from the '86 1000R looks the easiest, if you're just boring out the stock clamps. I had considered that long ago and now actually see one in your bike, kano. Really nice, but I thought going that route might compromise the strength of the stock clamps after removing the material.
I guess you would know. If you've been riding it long enough, is that a concern?

What diameter are the police forks? '84 GPZ1100 are 37MM.
I'm 98% sure the older police forks are 38mm.
