Will a KZ1000 ST (79) accept a kickstand lever? was created by KOOL RYDER
There is a spline covered with a rubber cover that says kikstand on it. Can I hook up a kicktand lever?
What lever will work? Is it easy to kick one of these over?

Do you mean kick start lever? If so i think a kick start lever from a 900 or a 1000 1972 to 1980 should fit. It is fairly easy to kick start one of the old girls over, and even easier if its in good tune. Hope this helps

KOOL RIDER,
If you are successful in doing this, please let us know. I would like to put a kickstart on my KZ1000ST too.

A kicker from most any other bike will work. The original ST came with a kick start that fit under the seat for emergency work - I have never seen one of these. The KZ1000ST isn't any harder to kick over than a Z1 or KZ900.

I was tempted by a KZ650 kickstart lever on ebay a while back, thinking it might fit the KZ1000ST, so first I took the one off my KZ650 and tried it. It didn't fit. The shaft on the KZ1000ST is bigger than the KZ650.
So maybe it needs to be a kickstart lever from a KZ900 or KZ1000........

Are we talking about a kick start lever for the right side of the bike behind the clutch side cover or a side stand for the left side of the bike?

I had a kicker for a shafty years ago. I found it under the seat in it's resting place. I guess I should have kept it.

Probably already documented earlier. The ST had the stand bolted to the frame, the Z1R had the exact same stand under the seat. It was like an emergency use only thing, had no swiwel to it, just a kick lever that slid onto the shaft. Any Z1/KZ1000 kickstart setup should fit, or order the right one for $90, but ala Kawasaki tradition NLA most likely.
