Thanks for the help guys, I was going to probably cheap out on the chain and sprockets cuz im a poor college kid, but I guess ill just limit the riding till i can save enough to get a good set. Sounds like going 1 or 2 teeth up in the rear will be good for me, because i do mostly riding around town here on campus. once again, thanks for the advice.

Hey, Matt, I know this is a long shot, but being an X poor college guy, check out the yard sales and flea markets, ya never know what you will find. I decorated most of my early living space w/yardsale stuff. I got a new in the box "Harley" 530 o-ring chain for $20 @ a yard sale. Cut it down 3 links and works perfect.

If u deside to go yardsaleing, do not buy used.
it could easily look good and have a stretched section in it. I had a chain like that once. it slapped up and down and hit the chain guard.on my 1300 the chain streaches a lot.
Look for a new 1.
non oring is cheaper but they dont last as long.
the orings hold the oil inside the rollers.with non oring chains u must oil them a lot. they recomend every 300 miles. Also u must use dif oil for each,as the oil must be able to penetrate a non oring chains rollers . on oring chains, the oil only lubricates the outer links.
By the way ,1 tooth up front is equal to about 3 at the rear.

going to buy a O ring chain and sprockets from Z1 right now, but want to know the stock teeth front and rear, can anybody help me out real quick? found a site that says 15/35 is stock, is this correct? Z1 has a 15 tooth countershaft sprocket but no 35 tooth rear sprocket. the O ring chain is 92 teeth. im thinking of going with the O ring chain, 15 or 14 tooth front and 37 tooth rear sprocket, will this work?

Going from a 15/35 to a 15/37 will give u more torque down low but increase your upper cruising rpm's by 250rpm.
