Am I crazy??? was created by grinch77
So all these threads have been popping up about swing arm swaps and what not.So I was thinking what about doing a single sided swing arm swap say use a set up off of a VFR or if you could be lucky enough come across a Duc set up for a descent price.Any one think it would be to much of a pain in the ass?

All swing arm mods/conversion to mono shock mounting, electrical compartment mod needs, wider rim/tires, chain clearances, chain & sprocket conversions, brake system changes, rear set fabrications etc... are a pain in the ass but you damn straight worth it.
Basically this is what some of us here do, what we're about... Take an old classic and make it SICK!
Not just in looks but by performance as well.
Review some of the engine mods these guys have made... Take a 30 year old bike and make it as fast or faster than a new technology bike... Insane I tell ya!
How much better could life be...

Ducati SSSA (or their convetional swingarms for that matter) have a goofy set of linkages compared most other mono-shock setups.
Ducati 848 rear suspension linkage...
Compare that to a VFR linkage...
And the linkage is a little easier to work out. This is why you'll see VFR arm in more bikes that a Ducati arm.
It can be done, a member who used to be on here, Squatch, started a VFR conversion on his Z1. He has yet to finish the bike but photos can be seen here .

GPz750 or GPz750 Turbo frame with 750 Turbo motor with 810 kit, believe the owner works for a race car (IRL I think) fab shop in Indy.
