Skinthead: This '78 KZ1000 Stage III project bike is still being worked. It will have Kawi ZRX forks, ZRX wheels, ZRX brakes, ZRX shocks, and a '97 Bandit 1200 swingarm.
I've made my own brace kit that I had welded onto my '73 Z1-900. I also used an aftermarket engine mounting kit. With the frame mods and engine mounting kit, I found a significant difference in handling when you pushed the bike, especially when 'pushed' by a non-stock motor. Note that on this bike I modified the front forks a bit, improved the front brakes, went to 17" radial tires, and used Works Performance shocks in the rear along with a rear disk brake setup.
Now with my Stage III effort, I want to take the next step by using more modern suspension components and a much more powerful motor.

hey thnks for the link to the japaneese site...i was looking at their frame mods and am wondering if my81 j-model is real close or just generic looks similar...i am interested in making a total loss ignition stripped down and pumped copycat of the 81 superbikes...over time that is...can a z-1 bolt in very easy to the 81 frame...not sure yet about the 100j motors condition..and have two good z900s
